Treatment For Stroke

We offer unique treatment for stroke, even long after the event occurred.

Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) for Stroke

We offer unique treatment for stroke, even long after the event occurred. Magnetic therapy for stroke patients can improve paralysis associated after stroke. It does this by triggering the brain’s natural healing mechanism, neuroplasticity. Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) for Stroke is a non-invasive tool that has been used to investigate the brain plasticity changes resulting from stroke and as a therapeutic modality to safely improve motor function.

Treatment should be started as quickly as possible. Most return of function is seen in the first few months, and then improvement falls off as abnormal homeostasis sets-in. However, patients have been known to continue to improve for years, regaining and refining capabilities like writing, walking, running, and talking.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy for Stroke

HBOT has been shown to both heal the after-effects of stroke and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), as well as slow down the progression of cognitive decline seen in dementia. The mechanisms of HBOT include reduced swelling, super-oxygenation of the injury site, and detoxification. This highly pressurized oxygen delivered directly to the brain, facilitates mitochondrial functioning, stimulates neuronal cell growth, increases blood flow to the brain, reduces neuroinflammation, and promotes neuroplasticity.

In the case of stroke, HBOT does not resurrect dead brain tissue, but it can facilitate the functioning of dormant, idling nerve cells that have suffered secondary damage by stroke due to diminished oxygen. Improvements in motor functioning, cognitive processing, mood and increased ability to perform daily activities have been achieved, even with patients who are more than a decade post-stroke.
